<Back to Top> Question 2: What does “An Action Components Affiliate” mean. What is your relationship with them? Action Components, Inc. is a top-25 independent global distributor of electronic components which was founded
in 1994. It’s unique strengths include: 1) one of the most extensive supplier networks in the industry, based on preferred relationships with many world-wide suppliers including component manufacturers, OEMs, EMS companies, and franchise and independent distributors; 2) wide recognition as a broad-line stocking distributor with market-leading strength in a) memory, microprocessors, and logic and b) Intel, Analog, AMD, Motorola, Xilinx, PMC Sierra, Altera. The two companies, while separate legal entities, have in common virtually the same ownership teams. From an operating perspective, the two companies share market intelligence, inventory access, including own-stocks and customer-stocks, some key management and advisory-team personnel, and operating philosophy.
<Back to Top> Question 3: What is an "independent distributor"? Are you a broker? Arcadia Components is an independent distributor, not a broker. We are an independent distributor in that we are not franchised for any particular manufacturer brand(s) of electronic components. By extension, we are not precluded from carrying brands for which we are not franchised, as is the case with most franchised distributors. The resulting independence means that we can tap our extensive network of suppliers (the Arcadia Global Sourcing Network™) to avail more brands and more part numbers than any franchised distributor in the world. Technically, a broker organization is an agent, an entity which merely facilitates a transaction between a buyer and a seller, and typically charges a commission for doing so. Arcadia is always a principal, in that it takes ownership and possession of the goods, warehousing them in its own facility,
performing extensive inspection, testing, and quality control steps consistent
with ISO9000 and Aerospace AS9120 quality standards, and taking on the financial and operational risk that any principal would. Philosophically, we eschew the notion of a broker, in that broker incentives are often misaligned with those of the two principals it represents. Arcadia is driven to build customer loyalty by delivering customer value – because its incentives are very much in line with that of its customers.

to manufacturers of electronics who buy LCDs, drives, and board-level components, including large and medium-sized global OEM and EMS manufacturers. Arcadia also sells to thousands of independent distributors who seek out hard-to-find items on behalf of their OEM and EMS customers. As a result Arcadia's customer base is broad and diverse, from several of the top 5 EMS companies in the world, to small/regional manufacturers and independent distributors. Hermes’ winged sandal was the symbol of his swiftness, strength and reliability.
